How to earn cash back with the TD Cash Back Visa Infinite* Card

The TD Cash Back Visa Infinite* Card is, as the name implies, a cash back card which means that for all of your purchases you will earn a certain percentage back as ‘cash’.

For this card, there are two different earn rates.

The first is the accelerated rate of 3% is for eligible grocery and gas purchases, as well as recurring bill payments†. Many credit cards offer higher rates for groceries and gas, but the accelerated rate for recurring bill payments as well is a big draw for this credit card.

Secondly, for all purchases that don’t fall into the above categories, you will earn 1% cash back†.

How to redeem cash back

Redeeming cash back with this card is easy. Unlike other cash back cards, you can redeem at any time. You don’t have to wait until the end of the year to see that money. Any cash back that you earn can be put towards your credit card statement whenever you choose.

To do this, log into your TD account. You can then visit your rewards/cash back balance and click "Pay With Rewards." You can then choose how much you would like to redeem, review, and click pay now to confirm and submit your payment. Your cash back balance will update immediately, but the payment will take a day or two to appear on your account. You will receive a confirmation number for your records.

The TD Cash Back Visa Infinite* Card carries a higher than normal purchase APR of 20.99%. The rates for cash advances and balance transfers are 22.99% and 22.99% respectively, which are typical for Canadian credit cards.

Fees

The TD Cash Back Visa Infinite* Card comes with an annual fee of $139†, although with the current welcome promotion the first year’s annual fee is rebated for the primary and additional cardholders†. To receive the first-year annual fee rebate, you must activate your card and make your first purchase on the account within the first 3 months after account opening and you must add your additional cardholders by June 4, 2024. After the first year, the first additional cardholder† will have to pay $50 for their card. After that, the fee is $0 for any subsequent additional cardholders.

Eligibility requirements

In order to qualify for the card, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • You must have a personal annual income of $60,000 or a household annual income of $100,000.
  • A credit score of good-excellent.
  • Be the age of majority in your home province.

How to apply

Ready to apply for the TD Cash Back Visa Infinite* Card? Assuming you meet the eligibility requirements as described above, you can easily apply for your credit card online.

Visit the web page for the TD Cash Back Visa Infinite* Card and click the orange Apply Online button. You will then be taken to a secure page that starts off by asking if you are an existing TD customer or if you are new. If you are a TD client, you can log into your online account to speed up the process. If not, don’t worry, it’s a simple application that should only take you a few minutes to complete.

First, you will be asked to confirm which credit card you are applying for. Click continue.

You will then need to indicate which province you live in and will be given an information box to read about fees for the credit card in your province. Once you have read this over, click "I Agree."

You will then be asked to complete your personal information including name, address, contact information, and SIN number.

Once you are approved, you should receive the card in the main in about 14 business days.
